  1. It's been a minute since I've bought a "physical CD" so I guess I can understand. It does hurt to see such a landmark go, though.

I think this is a sign of the broader destruction of CD sales in the industry...I buy music off of amazonmp3, but most people (especially my age) I know go the limewire route.

There's such a disconnect. It's like fans' perceptions of music is that it doesn't have to be paid for. They don't realize that artists have to survive off of CD sales. Granted, as an artist I have a vested interest...

But the point of the matter still remains. Millions of people are getting away with theft...and it seems like it's just gonna keep getting worse.

  2. I Agree with everything you said, people want to talk about artist cd's "flopping" or whatever you want to call it, but honestly its more a reflection of the current state of the industry than the popularity of the artist. I think artist are focusing on single's instead of whole albums more now because they realize unless you are a bonafied superstar, your CD will be lucky to sell a 100K, and their is more money to be made with radio plays and the digital downloads. I think its gotten to teh point where they need to lower the price of CD's or the sales of CD's will continue to decrease because the avenue to get the album in other forms is only expanding.
